Expect to walk though and paddle within the waterways the Naa’Waya’Sum Coastal Indigenous Gardens alongside our experienced guides. By the end of this tour you’ll have learnt new skills and paddling techniques. You’ll also know more about the ecosystem and wildlife we’re lucky to paddle though. We have a maximum of six people per instructor meaning that you’ll get the best expert instruction and guidance. Your own Paddle Canada Certification is available on request.

The Naa’Waya’Sum Coastal Indigenous Gardens (formerly the Tofino Botanical Gardens) provide a space for humans to learn from nature in both natural and landscaped environments. The majority of the beautiful 10-acre site is home to coastal rainforest and its many living species. An enchanting trail system is designed to help visitors navigate through the forest and along the waterfront–also a globally recognized important bird area. Covered viewpoints and seating areas are nestled thoughtfully in various places to create opportunities for pause, reflection, and appreciation of nature’s teachings. IISAAK – to observe, appreciate, and act accordingly – the highest law of the Nuu’chah’nulth constitution, is the ethos of this place.

In the immediate area surrounding the welcome centre and cafe, visitors can enjoy the manicured gardens, which include medicinal plants, ornamentals, sculptures, and water features.

Don’t miss the art exhibit and carvers in action! In three separate locations, visitors can learn about Nuu’chah’nulth art, culture, and governance through the exhibit at the welcome centre and the totems that are being designed and carved on site. This is a rare opportunity to learn by observing and interacting with Nuu’chah’nulth master artists and knowledge holders.

This tour is all about learning new skills while having fun and experiencing the spectacular surrounding nature. Tofino’s protected, calm inlet areas of Clayoquot Sound offer amazing wildlife and scenery. Keep your eyes out for some local wildlife species, you could spot eagles, wolves and bears! Take a moment to appreciate the local fauna and flora as you paddle over the mudflats.
