Tuff City SUP Octoberfest 2024 Recap: SUP Surf Nationals & Competition Highlights

Tuff City SUP Surf Event Recap: Octoberfest 2024 and SUP Surf Nationals

One of the highlights of this year’s Tuff City SUP Octoberfest was the SUP Surf competition, where skilled riders tested their abilities in Tofino’s famous surf and National Champions were crowned. The event showcased amazing skills, even in bad weather! Lise Richard and Jake Collard did great and won first place in the Women’s and Men’s Open categories. A big thank you to everyone who took part helped out, and cheered for the event—your enthusiasm really captured the spirit of the paddle surfing community!

Held on North Chestermans Beach, this event brought together some of the region’s best stand-up paddle surfers for a day of thrilling waves, intense competition, and fun camaraderie.

What is SUP Surf?

SUP Surfing combines traditional surfing with the use of a paddle. Competitors use their paddle to add power to their maneuvers on the wave, adding elements of balance, speed, and control. It’s an exciting variation of surfing and paddle boarding that demands agility, strength, and a deep understanding of the ocean’s rhythm and surfing.

The waves in Tofino offered the perfect backdrop for the SUP Surf event, with consistent swell and the dramatic coastal beauty of Tofino’s shoreline. Whether you’re a seasoned SUP surfer or new to the sport, this event showcased the power, grace, and fun of riding waves on a paddleboard.
